Technology & Entrepreneurship for Sight and Life

Back to Overview

I met an eight-year old on her first day of school. Mehraj Fatima was the first girl to be enrolled in the all-boys school. Looking pale and apprehensive, she took hesitant little steps to her classroom. As her teacher, I worried if she would be able to cope.

A year later, during Indian Republic Day celebrations, Mehraj walked up to the podium and eloquently articulated what freedom and independence meant to her in front of the entire school. I reflected with wonder on how over twelve months, she took ownership of her learning and grabbed every opportunity to transform herself into a confident and smart young girl. Over the course of my experiences, I’ve come to realize that such miracles are more common than we tend to believe.

I strongly believe in unlimited possibilities when empowered with the right opportunities – irrespective of where someone is born. A business and public administration professional by training, I feel the greatest joy in working towards sustainable market-based solutions for low-income economies.

“Ever since I joined Sight and Life, I am constantly struck by the passion of the mission and my colleagues’ drive. Working in such a positive environment and knowing that my work will contribute to making a significant improvement to the world makes every day an absolute joy! Sight and Life is a force that I am proud to be a part of.” – Srujith Lingala

At Sight and Life, I feel privileged to utilize my experience in harnessing market efficiencies to serve hard-to-reach communities. Every day, I work to support families provide better livelihoods and improved nutrition for their children – just so that young girls and boys like Mehraj Fatima become strong enough to realize their full potential and contribute to the world in a meaningful way.
