For nearly 25 years, SIGHT AND LIFE has been championing the fight against micronutrient deficiencies espousing the belief that the right mix of funds, knowledge, policy and technology will lead to prevention.

Since our founding in 1986, SIGHT AND LIFE has proactively supported vitamin A supplementation projects and research around the globe. Over the years, our scientific understanding of the interactions of the broad spectrum of micronutrients on human health and well-being has deepened. The focus of SIGHT AND LIFE’s mission has correspondingly evolved to embrace the broader perspective that micronutrient deficiencies need to be addressed in an integrated and holistic manner. This is evident in the work that is currently supported, as well as in the publications and the causes we champion, such as the fight against nutritional anemia and the emerging double burden of malnutrition in some countries.

As part of our efforts to further catalyze micronutrient research and programs, SIGHT AND LIFE has recently decided to align the size of its grants as well as the number of projects supported to address the new challenges. In order to manage the grant application/review procedures in a more structured manner, the call for proposals is now classified into two different categories, namely “Humanitarian Project Proposals” and “Special Call for Proposals”.

The Humanitarian Project Proposals will mainly target research and programs implemented on a relatively small scale in developing countries and will persist for no longer than one year. The proposals should request funds of up to approximately USD 15,000. The proposals should address at least two of the priorities including multiple micronutrient deficiencies, nutritional anemia, and double burden of malnutrition. For more information, please click the relevant section on the left panel.

The Special Call for Proposals will target research and programs requesting a higher fund of approximately USD 200,000 over the course of two years. Each year there will be a particular research/program theme for this special call and only proposals that adequately address the theme of the respective year will be selected for funding. For more information, please click the relevant section on the left panel.

All applicants are encouraged to carefully review the guidelines for each category and submit proposals to the relevant sections.
