The year 2005 was a year of big speeches by the world’s leaders in the fight against poverty in the developing world, so it follows that 2006 should be a year of action. By coincidence, this year we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of SIGHT AND LIFE, and action is exactly what we expect of ourselves, within the realms of our possibilities. We will align our activities to our new vision (to combat all types of micronutrient deficiencies), and we aim to serve your needs even better than before. To this end we are seeking your feedback on SIGHT AND LIFE. This edition of the Newsletter contains a questionnaire which we kindly ask you to fill in and return to us. Furthermore, we shall in future be focusing on health issues rather than on specific vitamin or mineral deficiencies. One of the most important health issues is anemia, which affects more that 2 billion people worldwide. A SIGHT AND LIFE manual on ‘Nutritional Anemia’, addressing contributing factors other than iron, is in preparation. Top experts from different fields have agreed to contribute chapters. You will find these and other examples of our planned activities for 2006, as well as the Annual Report 2005, on page 49 of the Newsletter.
