In Nepal, iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is estimated to affect eight out of 10 children under five years of age, two out of three women, and three out of four pregnant women because of insufficient dietary iron consumption.WHO cut-offs prescribe that an anemia prevalance greater than 20% within a population indicates a significant public health problem. These alarmingly high rates warrant a review of existing policies, approaches and interventions.
