Indonesian adolescents have been increasingly confronted  with the double burden of malnutrition. This paper examines the nutritional status of adolescent girls and boys in Indonesia, and reviews policy and programmatic
actions to address current nutritional challenges facing teenagers. Evidence indicates that adolescent  undernutrition is ubiquitous in Indonesia, and there are rising epidemics of overweight and obesity in  Indonesian adolescents. Programs and policies targeting adolescent nutrition in Indonesia are at a nascent stage and mostly limited in geographical coverage. It is time to position adolescent nutrition in Indonesia as central to development, and mainstream it into health sector plans, strategies, and policies. Comprehensive evidence-based program guidance on adolescent nutrition is urgently needed to support national and sub-national program scale up processes.
