On August 24 and 25, SIGHT AND LIFE, together with the UN World Food Programme (WFP), hosted a two-day, qualitative research workshop in Nairobi, Kenya, to build the capacity of local and international staff of WFP. Its primary aim was to provide an overview of qualitative research, especially in relation to programmatic monitoring and evaluation, and to develop pertinent skills and knowledge necessary for DSM-WFP partnership activities worldwide. The main workshop leader was Dr Joel Gittelsohn, a professor at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Center for Human Nutrition. His doctoral advisee Stephen Kodish also presented topics on qualitative research. The 14 attendees primarily included WFP program staff from Kenya country- and sub-offices and headquarters.
