In recent years, South-South cooperation (SSC) has become an important tool for promoting development. It is a highly valid instrument for sharing information, technology, and capabilities. This is particularly true in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), where SSC has gained prominence on many governmental platforms. Cooperation activities have mostly focused on sharing experiences related to industry, technology, and infrastructure. Social policy issues, particularly those related to hunger eradication and disaster risk management, have featured less visibly on the SSC agenda. The region, however, has accumulated a vast amount of experience, practices, and knowledge pertaining to food and nutritional programs. These best practices can be transferred efficiently among countries, based on common denominators such as historical background, language, middle income emerging economies, and regional integration agreements.
