Children who do not consume sufficiently nutritious foods both in quantity and quality do not receive the necessary macro- and micronutrients for adequate growth and cognitive development. In Madagascar, for example, only 13% of children aged 6–23 months benefit from adequate omplementary feeding, particularly a diverse diet that provides the minimum daily required vitamins and minerals.
