Inflationary food prices, a global economic downturn, and climate change – this confluence of ills is worsening
the plight of the world’s most vulnerable populations, and exacerbating long-term inequities in food and health. The immediate as well as long-term effects of these crises are compromising the diet and health of up to 80% of the population in most developing countries, and places at risk the future health and intellectual abilities of an estimated 250 million infants and unborn children (-9–24 months of age).
