Chris started his career in Boston Consulting Group after completing his engineering degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and his MBA at INSEAD, Fontainebleau. He moved to F. Hoffmann-La Roche in 1994, when he became President, North America, of the Roche Fine Chemicals & Vitamins Division, based in Parsippany, New Jersey. 

After the takeover of this division by DSM in 2003, he remained President, North America, and additionally was appointed to Director of the unbundling and integration project VITAL, followed by a call to the DSM Managing Board in the Netherlands. 

In 2006, he left DSM and took charge of the business unit Seed Care at Syngenta. Since the beginning of 2013, Chris has been President & CEO of DSM Nutritional Products. In 2015, he was appointed a member of the newly established DSM Executive Committee.
