Partnering with Nobel Peace Prize-winning World Food Programme to help it transition from a “food aid” to a “nutrition food” humanitarian agency

After advocating for and implementing food fortification in 2005 with the use of micronutrient powders in school supplementation, in 2007, Sight and Life partnered with DSM and WFP to become the partnership’s nutrition science hub. Together, we have developed fortified food commodities ranging from rice to high-energy biscuits and dates, and we continually build upon research to improve the micronutrient quality in food.

We have already developed 2 products: Super Cereal, a supplementary food for women and older children, and Super Cereal Plus, a complementary food for breastfeeding mothers and young children. Now used in Rwanda and other places, the Super Cereals have become the benchmark for such products.

Combining nutrition knowledge and product development know-how, we continue to improve and develop food commodities with WFP, transforming food aid into food assistance and bringing nutritious fortified food products to a global standard.
