Innovative Nutrition Commodities: Improving the Micronutrient Status of Women and Children
What is the role of nutrition commodities like MMS and LSFF in improving Maternal Health across Africa and Asia? We discuss how they can accelerate improved nutritional status of women of reproductive health, thereby improving child deaths, stunting and wasting. We will look into increasing availability of these commodities in the regions.
Malnutrition among women and children in LMICs is not improving at the rate we want, and in fact becoming worse in some regions. Many innovative and evidence-based nutrition commodities, such as MMS, MNP and LSFF, have shown to offer a solution, however, their coverage is inadequate.
If we are to make a real difference, nutrition commodities that are context-relevant need to be easily available as well as affordable. Sight and Life's Product Innovation in Nutrition project, supported by CIFF, is working to make this a reality.
