'Micronutrient powder mixes: small effort, tremendous social impact'

Kalpana Beesabathuni, India Country Head for Sight & Life, a humanitarian nutrition think-tank within DSM, connects research to action through partnerships, particularly in the field of vitamins and other micro nutrients, helping to eradicate malnutrition.

Inspired by her grandfather who worked to make the world a better place, she now works for Sight & Life, focusing on food fortification programs with micronutrient powder mixtures, packed in sachets. They can be added to meals during food preparation -- at home, or at school. "With very limited effort you can have a tremendous social impact" she says, considering herself successful "only if I make another person's life successful".

Sight and Life is DSM's humanitarian nutrition think tank caring about the world's most vulnerable populations, and existing to help improve their nutritional status. Acting as their advocates, the think tank guides original nutrition research, disseminates its findings and facilitates dialog to bring about positive change.

DSM is one of the world's leading suppliers of vitamins, carotenoids and other ingredients to the feed, food, pharmaceutical and personal care industries.
